Reflectance retrieval for agriculture with ATCOR-3

For vegetation monitoring, accurate and constistent reflectance retrieval is a must, specifically if the development of the vegetation is to be analysed by multitemporal data acquisition through satellite and airborne imagery.

Atmospheric correction and reflectance retrieval with ATCOR-3 for EnMAP

This example shows a true color composite of an EnMAP scene around Sioux Falls, SD, USA. EnMAP is a space borne hyperspectral imager with 224 channels from 400 nm to 2500 nm, a swath width of 30 km, and a spatial resolution of 30 m. 

The red box in the full scene and the red rectangle (in the subset and zoom) indicate the homogeneous location where a spectrum (lower panel) was taken. It is a surface reflectance spectrum of vegetation obtained after atmospheric correction with ATCOR-3. For comparison, surface reflectance spectra of Landsat-9 and Sentinel-2B from the same day are plotted. All three spectra fit very well.

Physical retrieval

The physical retrieval approach of ATCOR® supports this goal in an optimal way as acquisition time, location and state of the atmosphere are accounted for automatically during the processing.

Moreover, the vegetation index calculation tool in ATCOR® further supports the creation of vegetation products in a smooth way based on the calculated reflectances.
